Dr. Sherif Ibrahim
Founder and Chief Medical Officer
and lead Pathologist is recognized nationally as an expert in the field of Hematopathology and Flow Cytometric Diagnoses.Dr. Ibrahim previously held several positions at NYU School of Medicine and Hospitals (2001-2017), including Adjunct Professor, Director of Hematopathology/Molecular Pathology and Director of the Hematopathology Fellowship Program. He also served as a Hematopathology Consultant at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center from 2008 to 2017.
He performed his Hematopathology Fellowship at the M D Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Ibrahim contributed to the scientific literature in the field of Hematology and Oncology more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters and presentations in Hematopathology and Molecular Pathology.
Dr. Ibrahim is routinely engaged by other pathologists and physicians to render second opinions on the most difficult to diagnose leukemia and lymphoma cases.
Director of Revenue Cycle
Filip Cacinovic is an experienced medical billing consultant and is responsible for all laboratory revenue streams. Filip joined Cairo Diagnostics at its inception in 2013 as an Assistant Manager and was promoted to Director of Revenue Cycle in 2019 after successfully navigating the complex insurance regulatory developments across multiple state lines.
He has multiple publications in Nuclear Medicine across several major journals, most notably the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine.
He holds a B.S. in Mathematics from Northeastern University with a focus on Risk Management.
Vice President of Operations
As an executive with more than 30 years of experience in the pathology laboratory business, Carlene oversees the business operations at Cairo Diagnostics.
Carlene’s passion for healthcare and commitment to quality has enhanced her past leadership roles such as Senior Director of Laboratory Operations, Director of Esoteric Studies and IHC Operations and VP of Operations.
She is experienced in a variety of laboratory models and complex test offerings. Carlene also brings expertise in Anatomical Pathology laboratory operations management with an emphasis on cost containment, workflow efficiencies and quality.
Before joining Cairo Diagnostics in May 2022, she led the operations team at CBLPath a division of Sonic USA for sixteen years.
Carlene is a graduate of Stony Brook University and Iona College where she received her MBA. She holds license and qualification CTL, HT, (QHIC)
Nisren ElShazly is an Executive Leader, MBA, with 10 + years of progressive experience leading enterprise business operations and international organizations. Currently she leads Cairo Diagnostics Operations and Expansion Initiatives on both technical and non-technical levels. Previous experience includes roles leading global business optimization initiatives across all major functional areas including sales, marketing, logistics, quality assurance, finance, billing, customer relationship management and consulting for start-ups.
Nisren continuously focuses on delivering financial impacts by driving growth, reducing costs, and increasing client satisfaction rates.
Nisren holds a B.S in Marketing with a minor in Biomedical Engineering and an MBA from the New Jersey Institute of Technology
Director of Sales & Marketing
Ahmed Mostafa oversees the development and growth of the sales organization and leads all Marketing efforts to build the product portfolio and branding of Cairo Diagnostics.
Ahmed is a result driven healthcare sales executive with over 12 years experience in new business development and sales leadership. He previously served as the National Sales Manager at siParadigm Diagnostics resulting in their significant growth to become the 5th largest hematopathology lab in the US.
Ahmed has an entrepreneurial spirit and has co-founded and served as Sales and Marketing director of a mobile diagnostic services company as well as Zollect, a healthcare technology startup.
Ahmed holds a B.S. in Bio-Medical Engineering and earned his MBA in Marketing from Stony Brook University.
