Job responsibilities and Duties:
- Evaluate and interpret patient specimens for molecular and genetic abnormalities.
- Decide on the appropriate molecular or genetic tests to be performed based on clinical indications.
- Oversee and ensure the quality of test results by implementing and maintaining rigorous quality control procedures.
- Interpret the results of molecular and genetic tests, integrating them with other clinical and pathological data to make a final diagnosis.
- Generate comprehensive and clear reports detailing the findings of the molecular tests and their implications.
- Collaborate with other physicians, surgeons, and healthcare providers to provide insights and guidance based on molecular test results.
- In conjunction with lab technologists and other experts, aid in the development, validation, and implementation of new molecular tests.
- Keep abreast of the latest advancements in molecular pathology and integrate them into practice as necessary.
- Ensure the lab meets all safety, regulatory, and accreditation standards related to molecular testing.
- Contribute to the development of laboratory policies, protocols, and procedures related to molecular testing.
Qualifications:
- Medical Doctor (MD) Degree
- Anatomical Pathology (AP), Clinical Pathology (CP), or Hematopathology Board Certified with the American Board of Pathology, or be board-eligible
- New York State Medicine License for Physician, or be eligible
- Completed Residency (minimum 3 years of training) in Laboratory Medicine, Anatomical Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology, or related fields.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Proficient use of flow cytometry data analysis software such as Kaluza
- Proficient use of microscope imaging software such as Olympus cellSens
- Excellent Oral/Written Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
Wage:
- $240,000 per year.
